Yesterday, when I noticed the first door not squeaking anymore, I was not sure. But this morning I saw dark oil/graphite(?) on the floor underneath the bathroom door hinge where previously the floor had been clean, so then I knew. A bell is a good idea, but the squeak was still better, as the door would squeak even when opened slowly ;)
