Suppose that anyone could get out of the draft by changing their gender marker to X or F, because only males are required to sign up?

Not in Israel -both genders serve over there. I have mixed feelings about it, in that I'm against the draft in general, but in favor of women voluntarily serving in pretty much whatever role they want, as men do.

I imagine that they'll eventually change the selective service rules to require everyone to sign up, regardless of gender.

Not as easy as it sounds. They'd either have to force those who legitimately identify as agender or a non-binary gender to serve jail time OR admit there are more than the two binary genders at stake here. I pity the law makers who choose the former.

And I almost pity them for all the bigots after them should they choose the latter. I mean, "don't ask don't tell" had them foaming at the mouths though at the time that was considered the most diplomatic way to resolve certain questions, and was considered earth shattering for having occurred in the US less than maybe 4,000 years from now.

That said, that people aren't already legally able to identify however they want is puzzling to me, but I seem to share space with people who still think the only populated part of the land is Plymouth Landing.
