That motel room had a nice non-carpeted floor. I put a towel at the bottom of the fridge while defrosting it, to catch melting water and prevent it from getting on the floor.
The room's blow dryer was attached to the wall and the cord wasn't long enough. I don't think I considered moving the fridge closer to the blow dryer; that might have worked too.
Or I could have just left it frozen up and gotten ice from elsewhere to put in the cooler in the morning. But the frozen freezer was a challenge and once I get started on something like that, it's hard to make myself give up.
I'm glad they have auto-defrost freezers now. I don't know if the one in that motel wasn't auto-defrost, or if there was something wrong with it.
