It's been at least a dozen years and I have _never_ updated my laptop. I only updated Firefox when some site or other was giving me a hard time (as a result DuckDuckGo stopped working unless I enabled javascript). I updated Thunderbird once and I regret it a lot. It didn't solve anything, the problem was with my service provider. Again.
