woodpeckers! argh!
This morning was the 2nd time in the last week that a woodpecker has woken me up early by banging on the (vinyl) bedroom window frame. Yelling at it from the bed does no good. Last time, I banged back on the window from the inside, and that didn't stop it either. Opening the curtain, window or door is a sure method to get my heart rate up even further and to make it harder for me to fall back asleep, and by then the bird is gone anyway.

It might be easier to make something that is sound activated, and which broadcasts a sound that the woodpeckers don't like. Might need to experiment to determine what that sound would be. I wonder if making another wood-pecker sound would drive them away, or make them peck harder.
There are these little units to stop dogs barking that give out high pitched, inaudible to humans, noise when dogs bark. That could be something to experiment with (I have 2, but have no idea if they're still working or if the batteries are dead, because I can't hear them.)
