Or it's the only one left in the store in the style you want, and the reason it's left may be due to the defect, but hey, you're lucky that it's even still there, so what's a little defect compared to not getting it at all... and who else is going to buy it with that defect? By getting it in spite of the defect, you're saving it from who knows what ignominious end, and you can at least appreciate it's other good qualities, or maybe you can fix it or something. (And maybe it's even deeply discounted because of the defect, so you're even getting a great deal too, sort of.)
Oh yes, the neat stuff I sometimes find on the deeply discounted shelves at the grocery store. Depending on the item, I don't mind it being near or sometimes even past the sell-by date - but I prefer to notice that in the store rather than after I bring it home, so that I know what I'm getting.
