And a OOAK snag is when the unique item you bought arrives broken, but it's still OOAK and you want to keep it, but it's broken, but...

Or it's the only one left in the store in the style you want, and the reason it's left may be due to the defect, but hey, you're lucky that it's even still there, so what's a little defect compared to not getting it at all... and who else is going to buy it with that defect? By getting it in spite of the defect, you're saving it from who knows what ignominious end, and you can at least appreciate it's other good qualities, or maybe you can fix it or something.
(And maybe it's even deeply discounted because of the defect, so you're even getting a great deal too, sort of.)

Oh yes, the neat stuff I sometimes find on the deeply discounted shelves at the grocery store.
Depending on the item, I don't mind it being near or sometimes even past the sell-by date - but I prefer to notice that in the store rather than after I bring it home, so that I know what I'm getting.

I think I learned that one reading Thoreau's "The Maine Woods."

I saw it used in a caption for a pretty photo. I don't think I've ever read much Thoreau, other than perhaps a few brief things back in school. Just now I read a few pages of The Maine Woods, and it seems rather dry reading, though interesting to learn what things were like back then. On Walden Pond starts out more intriguingly, and not like I had thought it would.

Walden is one of my favorite books. I have dozens of lines from it memorized. The Maine Woods isn't nearly as good, but then Thoreau had only started revising it at the time of his death.
