Today I got carried away again, looking up info on a song and the band that played it. I taped the song from the radio when I lived in Germany in the 1980s, and always thought it was quite special though I didn't know what the lyrics were about or who the band was. I thought it must have been popular, to have been played on the radio back then. But from my web search results, it doesn't seem more popular than the band's other songs, and the band doesn't seem well-known outside of Spain.

Video title: 02- TRIANA Y SU CALLE DEL BETIS (LOS ROMEROS DE LA PUEBLA) 1974: SEVILLANAS'74

The song lyrics speak of a street named "Betis" in Triana, a neighborhood of Seville. The street runs along a river and can be seen in Google Streetview; a shop window along the street even reflects the image of the Google Streetview car which took the panoramic photos.

The song is originally from the group's 1974 album, aptly titled Sevillanas '74. It is also available for digital purchase at Qobuz on album Vamos a la Feria con Los Romeros de la Puebla.

The Spanish language Wikipedia has a page on the band, Romeros de la Puebla.
It indicates the group was active from 1968 through 2011 and mentions "The Romeros de La Puebla hold a Guinness World Record for being the longest-running musical group with its original members" (as of 2006; that record is now held by ZZ Top).

The Wikipedia page links to an El Pais article, Cuarenta años de romeros from November 2006 about the band and its Guinness World Record.

Since 1966, José Manuel Moya, Juan Díaz, José Angulo, Faustino Cabello and Manuel Cabello, those boys of the Puebla, have remained united without, neither time nor the currents of fashion have managed to separate them. That circumstance is, without a doubt, worthy of an incursion into the Guinness Book of Records ...

The article also mentions:
Las letras de sus canciones se impregnaron de día a día y cotidianeidad, se adelantaron a su tiempo para dedicar en el año 1995 una sevillana a los gays, mucho antes de que se hablase de las bodas entre homosexuales.

The lyrics of their songs were permeated by everyday life, they were ahead of their time to dedicate in 1995 a Sevillana to gays, long before there was talk of homosexual weddings.

I didn't find solid information on which song that last part referred to. So I checked the song lyrics from their 1995 album, Tiempo De Primavera (Qobuz link).

I strongly suspect this must be the song: Qué le importa a nadie (What does it matter to anyone?)

These are the lyrics. Not including the repeated parts, they are:
Tengo una ventana, que a la calle da
Por las malas lenguas
La tengo cerrá

[ Refrain: ]
   Si vengo o si voy
   Qué le importa a nadie
   Si soy o no soy
   Yo vivo a mi aire
   Y sé donde voy

Yo sigo contento, con vivir así
Y no quiero cuentos
Para no dormir
[Refrain]

Yo vivo mi vida, y a nadie hago mal
Si dicen, que digan
Otra pena más
[Refrain]

Haga lo que haga, en lengua estaré
Porque se que nada
Les parece bien
[Refrain]

This is the translation, per Mistral chat:

I have a window, facing the street,
Because of gossip ("bad tongues"),
I keep it shut.

[ Refrain: ]
   Whether I come or go,
What does it matter to anyone?
Whether I am or I’m not,
   I live as I please,
And I know where I’m going.

I stay happy, living this way,
And I don’t want gossip ("stories/tales"),
So I can sleep.
[Refrain]

I live my life, and I harm no one.
If they talk, let them talk—
That’s their problem, not mine.
[Refrain]

No matter what I do, I’ll stay true to my tongue,
Because I know
Nothing I do will ever please them.
[Refrain]

The band retired in 2011, with album Cantando Decimos Adiós ("Singing We Say Goodbye").
The album includes a song by the same name.

Video title: Storchennest Live Webcam in Bad Salzungen, Thüringen
Posted by: Stadtverwaltung Bad Salzungen
Started streaming on: Feb 11, 2026

The nest is on an artificial nesting platform on the roof of a tower in Bad Salzungen's saltwater spa. The metal platform was installed in 2011, though prior to that it had a wood platform. The webcam was added in 2012.

Info from the 3rd paragraph of the Youtube video description, translated to English (the first 2 paragraphs give other details):
It is normal that not every egg will result in a fledgling stork. Breeding success depends on the fertilization of the eggs, the prevailing weather conditions during the nestling period, the availability of food in the meadows within a 5-kilometer radius, and—potentially—losses sustained during territorial battles with intruding storks. In this particular nest, between 2011 and 2025—a span of 16 years—a total of 21 young storks successfully fledged; typically, there were two fledglings per season, though on several occasions, not a single young bird survived to fledging. On average, these breeding attempts yielded only 1.3 surviving offspring. In 20% of these breeding attempts, there was no success—meaning no offspring survived. Our storks are free-living wild birds. Consequently, we do not intervene in the natural course of events, even in tragic situations. To date, both breeding partners have fulfilled their parental duties in an exemplary manner. We will follow the unfolding events in this stork nursery with great anticipation and wish the storks continued breeding success and healthy fledglings.

Now that my taxes are done, I'm finally able to feel some real excitement about this.

NASA's Artemis II Live Mission Coverage (Official Broadcast)
(YouTube)

Artemis II tracker (NASA) - lets you display the trajectory of the spacecraft in relation to the Earth and Moon. As of right now the moon isn't even yet within the loop part of the craft's projected trajectory; the moon's orbit will take it into the loop part within the next few hours, I am sure. It also shows some stats (distance from earth & moon, velocity). There's also an app - More Info.

Note to self:
Next time, take the fairy lights inside for the season, when I start noticing pollen in the air, if not before. I don't want pollen getting all over them.

Errant thoughts:
I wonder how many parents with babies born on March 17 name them Patrick.

Seeing the name written there now, it looks rather neat, with "trick" in it. It could rhyme with hat trick.

Yesterday I noticed that Baby Yoda rhymes with Baking Soda.

Hey, it's Green Day.

As long as I keep that leftover baking soda in the corner of the sink, there will be nothing else needing to be cleaned with it.
As long as I keep that cap-ful of leftover mineral oil on the counter, there will be nothing else that needs to be greased.

Hey, Ginger Ale is appropriate for the day. It came in a green can.

The lyrics of this Mozart song surprised and amused me.

I didn't realize right away, but the lyrics are "Good night" in 5 languages, with each following verse (even the "pfui! pfui!") a rhyme of the preceding Good Night phrase.

Bandcamp song page (with lyrics)

The lyrics are vague enough that I can't figure them out, other than they seem sexual in nature.

Maybe this YouTube comment explains it:

This song is addictive a unique sound digging this and it is hilarious how it is doing the most flirtatious negging I have ever seen! 😂 🤩💕

It reminds me of Nirvana sort of.

A little something to make you smile, maybe.

Luckily not all of the things mentioned in the song apply to me so far, but several do!

I am still working, really!, I just opened Youtube to turn on some background music.

This is what I'm going to be listening to:
Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals *FULL ALBUM*
My clock radio played the last song, "Red Cave", this morning. The sound was special and intrigued me about the rest of the album.

That's happened a few times lately. Google Sound Search comes in very handy to identify the songs. Twice, it was able to identify a song based solely on the last two seconds of the song (when I was slow to open the app), with only the winding down sounds of the instruments - that seems so amazing (especially with audio from an over-the-air radio which has a certain amount of static rather than perfect digital sound quality).

One of those other songs is worthy of mention here too. But it is not light-hearted so I'll leave it for possibly another time.

Besides disappointment, I felt some anger too, looking at the results this morning. It has faded back down to cynicism now, though I am still irritable.

Last night around 11pm, one announcer said the results were looking like they did at that hour in 2016. I still remember my reaction back in 2016 around that time; how I couldn't or didn't want to believe it and didn't give up hope. This time I didn't give up hope either, as slim as it kept getting. But unlike last time, I could believe it, because it happened before.

This is a somewhat heartening message:
