Maybe they are. I found them at a thrift store. But I later discovered that a local store (Loose Lucy's) had ones very similar to them, so that's probably where they were originally bought.
oh, wow. that's who i was thinking he looked like too for a while, the flying character from the neverending story. but when i tried to find a picture online to verify my memory, it didn't look at all like what i was thinking - Falkor is light-colored with a long snout. Is there a different character maybe? Or maybe the similarity is greater when he's viewed head-on instead of from the side.

Yoda rox! He looks like the Luck Dragon from Never Ending Story in the first pic... but he totally looks like in the second!
