This morning's adventure.... Accidentally locked out of bedroom!

Realization #1: My purse with the house-keys and car-keys is in that room!
Realization #2: The spare sets of house-keys and car-keys is also in that room!
Conclusion: Must get door open, or else cannot go to work. If all else fails, will have to call Forestfen for her to bring me the spare keys she has at her house.

Amused note: This is not the bedroom where I had installed the keyed lock. If it were, I would have been able to open it with the extra key stored in this bedroom.

Amused sidenote: I fixed the metal plate on the jam of this bedroom's door just last week. Prior to that, the door didn't even close or lock right.

Great idea #1: Hair pin! It will fit in the little pinhole in the door's handle! I stick it in and fiddle it around, but the door does not open.

Desperate websearch resulting in great idea #2: Small phillips screwdriver! It is sturdier than the hair pin! I stick it in; it is a tight fit. Not any extra space for fiddling it around. But simply pushing it in does not open the door.

Decreasingly optimistic idea #3: Wire hanger, maybe that will work. I stick it in and fiddle it around but nothing happens.

Idea #4: Try it out on the other room's door which is not locked. I stick the wire hanger in that door handle's pinhole and figure out how to unlock it. Ah, it is just a matter of pushing in the right place, which makes the lock click open.

Success: I try the same method on the locked door, and after a bit more fiddling, get it open.

And I even still have time to post an LJ entry about it. Odd, that.
