I had felt the beginnings of a sore throat, so I took my regimen of vitamin C, garlic pills, and echinacea for 3 days, which got rid of the symptoms. But now that I've been off it for a day, it feels like the sore throat is returning. In the past, my regimen would often cure me and prevent the horrible runny nose and congestion of a cold that usually follows a sore throat for me. But it is in situations like this that I wonder if I should continue with the garlic pills, or if that would lead to an unending standoff between my body and the virus. With a virus like this one, which withstands my regimen, do I have to let myself get sick, in order to get cured?

I find it difficult to feel responsible for the suffering of others. That's
why I find war so hard to bear. It's the same with animals: I feel the less
harm I do, the lighter my heart. I love a light heart. And when I know I'm
causing suffering, I feel the heaviness of it. It's a physical pain. So
it's self-interest that I don't want to cause harm. -Alice Walker, author

A boudoir is literally a "sulking room" or a "pouting room".
