Bulk Rename Utility is a useful freeware tool for renaming multiple files at once. It has many options for how to rename the files - you can search and replace text, insert prefixes or suffixes, insert incremental numbers, and more. The GUI is somewhat intimidating at first, but it really is rather simple to use, and you can preview the new file names based on your selections to make sure you have them right, before doing the actual renaming.

GoldWave is a NON-freeware audio-editing utility. It has some neat features. The noise-removal option works well for removing hiss. The pop/click removal option does not seem to work very good - at least not when I tried using it to remove all popping noises from some tracks I had transferred from records. I purchased this program back in 2001 when I was doing some audio stuff, and did not think my license was good anymore, but according to their website, it may still be! I submitted a request with my old info, for a new license ID, and will see if I get it or not.

The instructions that come with household hardware and such, tend to suck. I'm putting together the parts for a manual push-mower. If I hadn't been going by the instructions, I would have noticed that the 3 screws are not all the same length (even though the instructions indicate that they are), and I wouldn't have had to take 2 screws back out in order to put the shorter one in the correct place. If I hadn't been going by the instructions, I would have noticed that I needed to put the lower bars onto the mowing assembly before screwing the bars together, since the bars don't fit onto the mowing assembly otherwise. But no, the instructions make no mention of that little detail, and they say to screw the bars together before attaching them to the assembly.

I'm beginning to think that Q isn't so wrong after all, for not bothering to read the instructions that come with these kind of things.

In order to get the wireless router (B) working in conjunction with the DSL modem/router combo (A) at FF's house, I did the following:

- Disabled DHCP on (B)
- Set the IP address of (B) to 192.168.1.151
- Disabled IP pass-through on (A)
- Set the IP address of (A) to 192.168.1.1
- Enabled DHCP on (A), using range 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.150
- Plugged an ethernet cable between (A)'s output port and one of (B)'s output ports - NOT into the input/"internet" port as I was originally doing.

B's IP address should be in the same subnet as A's, but it should be a number not being used by A's DHCP setup.

Now, if anyone knows how I can still use VPN to be able to connect from my computer at my house, to FF's computer at her house, even though IP Pass-through is disabled there, I'd be interested in knowing.
