what the ?

I did a Google search on "persimmon leaf tea". I saw a split-second screen of results mentioning tea, and then it refreshed with this message at the top:
"Showing results for persimmon. Search instead for persimmon leaf tea"

Now why would it think I want the results for "persimmon" instead of the actual search phrase I entered?! There are 149,000 results for "persimmon leaf tea", so its not like there weren't any results to show.
