Halloween 2014
Saturday, November 1st, 2014 07:29 pmIn the weeks leading up to Halloween, I was busy with other things and didn't feel I'd have the time or energy to do anything festive. I wasn't even sure if I'd be home from work early enough for any trick-or-treaters. But I did pick up 2 bags of candy while grocery shopping, just in case. Until getting home from work yesterday, I still wasn't sure if I'd actually do anything.
Yet, I did leave work a bit early yesterday. It's wonderful how much more energy I feel when I get home at 6pm rather than 8pm.
So I decided to give any potential trick-or-treaters a chance. I got the dogs inside, opened the gate, put up a strand of lights and a few decorations on the porch, and hung 3 LED glow-sticks on the gate. I even perched Spider in the dog-house entrance. It was quite possible that no one would come, but at least I made an effort.
And then, it's amazing how excited one gets when any trick-or-treaters do come. There were 5 kids total, in 2 groups. So yay. It was worth it.
I would have liked to relax with some music or a movie then, but circumstances prevented it. Instead, I finished editing a file for work, and then struggled to get an old laptop working right so that Forestfen could take it on a trip. I had been in the process of setting the laptop up for her anyway, but wasn't planning to have to work on it yesterday. Lesson learned - don't tell someone that you're giving them something, before you're actually ready to give it to them.
Qiao and I were talking about Spider, and he suggested getting a sign that says "Don't worry about the dogs. Worry about the spider." We could put it on the gate. ^_^ Do you think it would instill uneasiness in any potential thieves or burglars?

That particular sign is from 4 years ago.
