I've still been waking up with sticky gunk on my right eye, and the vision is still worse than usual, so I went to see my eye doctor today after all.
He didn't see any current infection, but said that the eye is inflamed, so he prescribed me Zylet eye drops which contain anti-inflammatory plus anti-biotic components. He said the inflammation could be causing the blurrier vision. The antibiotic is to keep me from getting an infection, which could happen due to the epitheleal breaks (?).
Paying for the eye-drops was a double surprise. When I first handed the pharmacist my prescription plan card, I thought she said it would cost $113. Wow that's expensive. But then when I was actually paying for it, I was charged $180! I was too surprised to say anything. Asking about it would have made me feel embarrassed; maybe I had heard wrong the first time.
I was also thinking, that maybe the $113 is what it would have cost if I had already met my deductible, which I haven't.
So after getting home, I looked up the price of Zylet eye drops on my prescription plan website, and the $180 does seem to be correct after all.
My lower eyelid actually does feel like it has a slight swelling, like a rudimentary chalazion/blockage of the gland there. I'm surprised the eye doctor say anything about that. Maybe he was only paying attention to my eyeball, even though I had mentioned suspecting a chalazion due to pussy discharge from my eyelid on one day.
On the way to the appointment, as I was mentally rehearsing what I would tell the doctor (trying to make sure I wouldn't forget any important details about my condition), I thought that it would be much easier if I could simply type it out before-hand, and then either email it or print it out and hand it to the doctor.
I also wish that what he told me during the appointment would be automatically recorded somewhere so that I could read it later, rather than having to rely on my imprecise memory.
