Current international rules for gender-segregated sports say, more or less, that if you are anything other than genetically XX and only XX, you have to compete in the men's category. (Even if you're X0 or XXX, apparently.) Every Olympic-level athlete is genetically tested, with the sole exception of Anne, Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, when she competed in 1976, because the Olympic Committee felt that was unfitting. There is a LOT of discussion about this, especially of/by people who are neither XX nor XY. There is currently virtually no discussion of transgender rights in sports. (I think in part because the hormones involved automatically disqualify people who are in sports that do drug testing.)
