I use a portable heater to quickly defrost a fridge/freezer at work. Takes an hour or two, as long as the fridge/freezer is unplugged (been there, made that mistake). The floors at work are cement, not carpet. Rented hotel rooms usually come with a hair dryer, which would have worked and probably defrosted the freezer part even faster since the hot air blows harder and more directed.
