Heh, one of the benefits of a modern smartphone, and even the older ones, is in being able to us them as an MP3 player even if you don't use them as a phone. I kept one of my old phones for that, but ended up playing music from the newer phone anyway. I can keep the phone in my pocket blaring out music while I walk around working in the yard, though I only do that once in a while. Did it while cleaning out the gutters last time. The SD card in it is big enough to store my whole music collection. Actually, I still haven't gotten around to copying my music onto the 512 GB SD card I got for my newest used phone last year. In the meantime, I've been using that phone for streaming online music over wi-fi.
But back to CD players, yes that is right. Several of the newer ones I saw while browsing online did have slots for USB drives and memory cards.
