If I can rant a minute, this is also why I'm not super surprised to see long covid be a thing. Viruses with long-lasting effects aren't new.
My buddy was flirting with some anti-vax ideas (against the discouragement of a coworker and I) and it was only the long-lasting effects of shingles that changed that. So... *grump*
