FUCKING DAMN PEOPLE WHO DON"T NEUTER THEIR DAMN PETS AND LET FUCKING PUPPIES AND KITTENS BE BORN. So they have to end up having to be killed because they are such a damn fucking pain trying to deal with and because there's so damn fucking many of them . And even when we find this damn fucking puppy a home, that's just one less home for some other fucking damn puppy who will end up being euthanized because of it.
Why do I have to spend my fucking SUnday cleaning up dog shit and urine and letting the dog out to pee and getting him food and cleaning his water bowl and giving him fresh water and trying to fucking train him and clean the fucking damn crate and clean the fucking damn harness that he fucking damn doesn't let me fucking put back on him. God fucking damn it.

Date: 2009-11-02 12:29 am (UTC)From:When dogs are hungry/starved for any period of time, their digestive system gets messed up. It is basically impossible to potty train them until their stomachs get settled, which can take a few weeks.
IF the puppy is:
in a small enough crate (just big enough to stand up and turn around)
with no blanket (soft materials encourage elimination)
is being taken out often enough, (every numbers of months age x 1 hour, so right now your guy needs to go out every three hours and once at night)
is being taken out on a leash so that you SEE him go
is getting a bit of play/cuddle time whenever he's let out of the crate
is being fed on a schedule (3x a day, last meal no later than 5pm)
and watered only at meal time
AND you are still having problems with accidents in the crate, then it is probably due to an upset stomach. Feed him as much canned pumpkin puree as he wants to eat in one sitting until you've given him a whole can(NOT pumpkin pie filling, just plain pumpkin puree) and get him some puppy wormer. That will have him straight in a week, but it might get worse before it gets better.

Date: 2009-11-02 01:12 am (UTC)From:I found a website (www.perfectpaws.com) which has some helpful video clips too on puppy training. Today I tried some of the tips on getting him to stop biting and jumping up on people. It seems to be helping a bit.
I may try the crate next weekend; I just cleaned it today but haven't used it yet. I'm gone during the day so I can't do it during the week, even though my friend comes over at lunchtime to let the puppy outside. I was finally able to get the enclosure in the garage set up so that he couldn't escape... for 2 days. Then he found a way out again, so I fixed it again so that he couldn't. That was a couple days ago. So now at least he is eliminating on the paper in the enclosure, and he pees when we take him outside.
