i was out from work on sick leave due to an unpleasant incident which had happened to me on saturday september 8, wherein my jaw had been broken. i was staying with a friend of the family, because after the incident on saturday, i didn't feel safe staying at my home alone overnight, and my mom was currently visiting relatives in Germany.
so, after getting up that morning, i was turning on the radio to hear some music, but instead heard something said about all flights in the U.S. having being grounded. which was... shocking. hard to imagine. hard to envision. i was wondering if i had heard wrong, or what could possibly have happened to cause such a thing.
i asked my friend if he had heard any news yet today. he hadn't, so we turned on the tv... and there it was, images of the planes crashing and the towers smoking...
it was shocking, and i'll admit, exciting... though seeing the first tower collapse, as it collapsed... the death and destruction aspect started to hit me hard...
later in the afternoon, when i was back at my house doing some errands, i remember walking out onto the porch and just... being dazed. sitting down and thinking, what a week... what is the world coming to...
