ohhhhhhh not again

My dogs killed a rat in the yard. I don't know whether to be upset or pleased.
Oh please don't let me have rat problems in the house again this year.

On second thought, maybe it died of other causes, and the dogs simply found it. Who knows. It's small to medium sized, based on the carcasses I saw last year. I thought they lived in trees... maybe it fell.

Rats in trees?
Huh. I've seen them in a lot of places, but never there. My experience has always had them under things or in holes under things.

From what I've read, roof rats, when not in roofs, nest in trees.

Then again, I didn't know there was such a thing as roof rats.

You should be safe. Their range doesn't extend to Colorado.

Last year, there were rats in both my attic and crawlspace so I'm not sure if they were roof rats or Norway rats. I had the areas rodent-proofed, and hope they don't manage to find a way in again.

You need, like, a bobcat, in addition to the dogs. A bobcat that has unrestricted access to your roof and crawl space.
