Have you ever thought things through and come to a conclusion, but you don't like the conclusion, so instead of acting on it, you just wait...
knowing that eventually, your mind will rearrange itself using your dislike of the original conclusion as an additional factor, and come to a more acceptable conclusion, one which hopefully you'll like better and which will be easier to deal with?
Or sometimes, if the conclusion is very disturbing, and there doesn't seem any practical way of dealing with it, you just try to stop thinking about it, knowing that eventually you'll forget about it for the most part, or that it will at least no longer feel as insistently distressing?
Or perhaps you think that if a conclusion is truly correct, it should be able to stand the test of time, therefore you wait to see if it does or not...
