Now I spied a lizard in the kitchen. It disappeared quite quickly, possibly under the fridge.

The bird I got out by opening the windows.
The toads, they usually hunker in place; easy to slip a clear plastic container over them and then a thin strong cardboard underneath.
The frogs are like bugs; if I come at them slowly enough with the container, they don't move and can be caught.

But a quick lizard; I have not much hope for being able to catch that. I don't recall ever having had one of them in the house before. At least they eat bugs. Maybe it will find its way back out again.... Now out the door, now out the door!

Ah, I was wondering how you got the menagerie back outdoors.

I would suggest just grabbing the frogs/toads gently (they don't flee if you approach slowly), but they do tend to urinate when scared. :p

For a lizard, a really big container works, if you have something you can slip under it. But unlike the amphibians, you have to move quickly for these guys.
