Go to maps.google.com.
Enter your address (only U.S. addresses so far, from what I can tell)
When the map comes up, click the "Street View" link that displays underneath the small photo. (If there's no photo or link, they must not have gotten your area yet - try a different address in a different part of town or the country).

It brings up a 360 degree street-level photographic view of the location. And you can click the white arrows to move forward and back along the streets. Like in a VR game, but of the real world!

Type in 1672 8th Ave Rockford IL (not the proper address but what Google Maps has) and that's the house we lived in when we were flooded twice. And that's flood debris in the front yard and me talking to my landlord. (I'm in black.)

Oh, that is wow! I haven't seen any other people in the map photos yet, and was even wondering if maybe they tried to avoid that for legal reasons - but I haven't had nearly enough time to play around looking at the images as I'd like, yet.

Did you notice a strange car passing you by with a camera mounted on it, at the time? I wonder what those vehicles and their camera mounts look like. It might be several cameras, pointing in different directions, all taking a photo at once, or maybe a single camera rotating, or a camera with a special multi-directional lens...

Oh, by the way, do you remember what approximate date that was for your address? I am trying to figure out around when the photos of my house were taken... not sure if it was this year, or last, or maybe even before.

I'm not positive. The pile of rubble seems smaller so August 2007, I'd guess. Not sure beyond that. We didn't notice. For a long time, I thought the person in black was the landlord's son, but then I eventually realized it was big ole me.
