We had a nice little thunderstorm with lightning and pouring down rain, so I took the opportunity to check inside my car during the downpour to see if I could find where the water was leaking in from. But the water had not yet manifested itself inside. I guess the water pools up inside of the body of the car somewhere, and then eventually seeps through the carpet from underneath.

It may take the force of wind, the kind you have while driving to force the water inside your car. Try looking for the leak while going through a commerical drive through car wash.

That's an idea. Even if I didn't find the leak, at least I'd get a clean car out of the deal. :D

I was expecting to find a puddle in my car this morning... the storm was bad enough that a tree was knocked down where I work - either by the wind, or it might have been struck by lightning. But nope, no leak this time. So you may be correct about it being more likely to happen while driving.
