Oh wow. I just got a tiny splinter out of my left forefinger, using a needle and razorblade. The splinter had been in there for several months - I must not have noticed it at first and so it healed over, but it sometimes caused a piercing pain when I touched my finger in a certain place. I had already tried to investigate it with a needle previously without success, and so after that I wasn't sure if the pain was maybe just from having been poking myself with a needle. But this morning while holding my fingers in front of my flashlight, it really looked like there was a dark speck in there, so I tried again.
Hoorah, I don't have to go through the rest of my life with a splinter embedded in my finger!
Now, perhaps I can help Forestfen with the ones she's been complaining about in her thumb.... although sticking a needle in someone else's finger is probably even more nervewracking than doing it to one's own.
