I heard a crow making a most uncrow-like sound this morning. When I heard an unusual bird-call this morning, I looked up to see what its source was, and saw this crow up in the tree doing it... I saw its chest heaving, so am sure I was watching the right bird. Sort of a burr-urrr-uppp kind of trilly/hooty thing, not the regular CAW!-CAAWWW! sounds I associate with crows.
I wonder if this is a normal crow sound, and I just haven't been around crows enough to have heard it before. Or if this particular crow somehow learned this sound from some other bird, and if so, how.... was its egg laid in some other bird's nest?... or was it copying a sound it had heard from another bird, which it just happened to like the sound of?
