yellow beauties

I got the blister while uprooting dandelions in the yard of Forestfen's new house. Dandelions are so beautiful. I never feel pleased about mowing them down or disposing of them as weeds.

This is them, 4 days after having been pulled from the earth and tossed on a pile. You'd expect them to be limp and dying. But see how bright yellow they are, and how their stems have curved upwards to the sky?

There's an empty corner lot on one street, absolutely full of blooming dandelions. So gorgeous.

Each one of those yellow beauties has thousands of seeds. If you leave them laying in a pile exposed to the wind you will be digging them up over and over for a long time to come. That's a lot of blisters. There is nothing beautiful about this plant once the yellow flower drops its seeds and becomes an ugly weed that doesn’t allow the grass to grow. Soon all you will have is weeds and no lawn. There is a special tool for digging these up that makes it easy. It looks like a long screwdriver with a V shaped tip that you stick in the ground and twist. It makes getting the root out of the ground easy without destroying the lawn and not causing blisters.
