But you may choose one career path which looks good, and some years down the line, there's no longer enough opportunities in that career to make a living from it. Then you may struggle finding an alternate career. Or you may be a wonderful person, but just not have the brains or the right personality to be able to get into a high-paying field... and if your job is minimum-wage, it's going to be a struggle. Or you may even have a good-paying job, but you or someone in your family may have medical problems and high medical bills...
Or you may come from a poor family and not be able to afford a good college education without taking loans, even if you are smart and motivated.. and then you have to pay back the loans.
I was lucky enough to get a full scholarship. I've recently come to the decision that I should try to repay that money by donating to scholarship funds... if I had gotten loans I would have had to pay them back, after all. So even though I don't have to pay the scholarships back, I think I should.
