Dammit. I need to go to bed. I want to go to bed. I might've could've gotten to bed on time tonight. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The ***** washing machine is acting up again and holding my soapy wet clothes hostage. Grrr.

Note to self: Never use the Heavy Soil cycle again. It often gives me problems.

And while I'm ranting anyway.

What is it with people who have these long boring-sounding telephone conversations while sitting on the toilet in one of the stalls in the bathroom at work?

And what is it with people who don't turn off or silence their cellphones in a movie theater, with the reasoning, "Noone is going to call me." And yet someone else just called them. "They're the only person who would call me, and I told them I'm at the movies. So they won't call again." Oh, really, you're sure about that? I know that person, and I'm not sure that they won't call again. I suppose you never get calls from people who dialed the wrong number, either? No one ever calls you in the evening, really? Why can't you follow the simple courteous rule of silencing your phone? Why should I have to be slightly anxious, worrying that your phone is going to ring after the movie starts? Because you're one of THOSE PEOPLE who are too rude and inconsiderate and selfish to turn off their phones. Because you're too **** lazy to press a **** little button on your phone!

And it's not reasonable to be handled a 32 oz drink when you order a "small"!!! 32 oz is not small.

And ouch **** I just **** hurt my **** hands hitting the **** washer. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

dog rant.

Damn those fucking dogs.

They tore up all my grass, so I wanted to lay down some new sod. It's hard enough keeping grass alive without dogs tearing it up. Qiao got me 10 squares of sod. Just a small area at a time. It took me a couple hours yesterday to dig up the earth and lay the sod. Then it took another couple of hours trying to hook up the hose and sprinkler to the faucet. Then while the sprinkler was going, I went to work drilling holes in the mortar in order to put a hose hangar on the side of the house. Because I can't leave the hose on the ground or the dogs will chew it up. And it's damn heavy to be carrying back and forth to the garage all the time. And the sod has to be watered every day to begin with

Today I finished putting up the hose hangar. And I went to buy more fencing, because I didn't have enough to surround the new sod. The metal fencing would have been $30 for 50 feet. I instead got plastic fencing, which was $10 for 25 feet and twice as tall - I could cut it in half and have 50 feet worth.

After getting home with the fencing, I looked out the window to see Serena already pulling up a piece of sod and trying to tear it apart. I yelled at her in fury and tied her up on the other side of the house. Then I got the plastic fencing up around the sod. The fig tree seems to be dead, so I took the tall folding fence that was around it, and instead put that around where the lantana flowers will be growing, to keep the dogs from ruining the flowers. In addition to the plastic fencing, I had gotten 4 pretty little snap-together pieces of plastic decorative fence, so I put those around the fig tree instead. Then I went to work trying to put the hose on the hose hangar, and hooking up the sprinkler again. Not 10 minutes into that process, I look over to see Serena chewing off the tops of my pretty little snap-together fence. GRRRR!!!!!

And now they'll probably tear down the plastic fencing and tear up the sod, and all that work will have been for nothing. And I'll have nothing but a big ugly muddy yard. I've already got a big muddy yard, and the soil is starting to wash away. I used to have nice grass in the back yard at least, but it has disappeared. It was thinning out even before the dogs moved in and started trampling everything.

And I still have to finish laying down bricks around the whole perimeter of the outside fence, to keep Serena from digging under it.

Those dogs make my life so damn hard.

for fuck's sake

I've just spent about 10 fucking hours trying to get a wireless internet camera server to work. It's a TrendNet TV-IP201W which Qiao must have bought a few years ago, but never really used.

It's default IP was not on the same subnet as my router, so not wanting to change my working router's settings, I got out an old router and set that router's IP subnet to match the camera's. Then with the camera connected to the old router via a network cable, I was able to open the camera's setup webpage and reconfigure it's IP # to match my other router's subnet.

Then I was able to connect it to the regular router. Then I discovered the camera's settings only supported WEP wireless, not WPA. Taking a chance, I downloaded and installed some firmware updates to the camera. In order to do that, I had to set it back to it's default IP # and use the old router again. And do a few factory resets. After having managed to get the firmware upgraded, lo and behold, the camera's wireless settings now included an option for WPA! We're almost there, I thought (mistakenly).

I changed the camera's IP # back to match my regular router again, and tried to get it to work wirelessly. It was working fine when connected to the router with a network cable, but it .just. .did. .not. .want. .to. .work. .wirelessly!!! I tried changing umpteen things in both the camera's setup and the router's setup, but it still did not work.

I tried port forwarding, address reservation, using TKIP instead of AES, unplugging the darn thing and plugging it back in many times, DHCP.....

One thing I can't figure out is why, even when the camera was working while connected to the router with a network cable, the router did not list the camera as an attached device. The router does list my laptop as an attached device, regardless of whether the laptop is connected via wireless or a network cable. So why wasn't the camera listed? How can I figure out why the router and camera aren't talking to each other wirelessly, when I can't even see them talking to each other over a wire?

And now to top it all off, I'm not even able to connect to the camera while using the cable anymore! It may be because I had set the camera to use DHCP. The camera is not responding at the original IP # I had set up for it, nor with the IP # which I'd expect the router to assign to it dynamically. I suppose I have to do a reset on it.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Great. I called Aetna, and the customer representative confirmed that there's only 3 psychiatrists in my city (not even technically *my* city, but the locale across the river) who are covered by my insurance, and all 3 are at the same address.

Whereas in Augusta, I found 23. In Charlotte, about 30. In Charleston, 6.

I feel a ridiculous urge to kill myself just to spite them.

Eh. I guess at least it makes choosing a psych simpler than if there were any choices. The thing is, I still don't believe it's true that only those 3 people are covered by Aetna.

.

And I can't understand why they don't sell any better disposable menstrual pads than they do. I've bought 3 different kinds, and 2 of them are those frickin plastic-covered things that stick to the skin on my butt and smell nauseating. Stupidly designed "wings" which are so narrow that they don't stay stuck to the underwear, and are more likely to come loose and attach to my skin. I may end up having to take my cloth pads on my trip after all, even though washing them will be a pain.

useless gripe

Websites should not be allowed to make proclamations such as "We've updated our Terms and Conditions. Go to this page ... to see the updated version. Your continued use of the service indicates your acceptance of the updated terms."

I already read (or skimmed) the whole long thing when signing up for the service. If they change their conditions, they should be required to also list those changes separately, not just the whole updated document. Users should not have to read the whole 10 or 20 page thing all over again from scratch. I'm sure they know that very few people are likely to do so, and therefore most people will not know what the changes are, and what they are implicitly agreeing to.
