pine tree pollen cones

In the first pick are the cones really that purple (or say, lavender-hued) or is that your camera? If so they're gorgeous.

They really were that purple; I was amazed by them. Often purple tones don't capture right in my photos (they tend to look more bluish instead), so I'm glad that photo turned out well.

I tried some searches to find out what kind of pine trees those are. There are other pines with purple cones, but I didn't find any which have the shape of the ones I saw. So it's still a mystery.
