storage of nuts

Note to self:

Always store pecans and walnuts in the refrigerator or the freezer. They get unpleasantly stale otherwise.

Do the same for sunflower seeds, peanuts, hazelnuts, and macadamias, unless consumed within a month or so of getting them.

Almonds, pistachios, and cashews seem to keep well without being refrigerated (although the latter 2 absorb moisture and become less crisp over time).

Yeah I feel guilty when I have to do that too :( The amount of food simply wasted in this country is some astronomical number :(
