Saturday, February 9th, 2008 03:57 pmMy Indian co-workers use the phrase "just 2 minutes" in the same way many Americans use the phrase "just a minute".
I wanted to look up a word, and instead of walking to the dictionary or to my computer, I walked to my cellphone, and looked it up online on there. The dictionary site was the second bookmark I added... but now I've noticed it was already in Opera Mini's default search sites.
There are some ways in which I do not want to be like Forestfen, but in certain situations I'm beginning to see myself like I used to see her. It makes me dislike myself.
Ah, full web-browsing on my pre-paid cellphone for just 35 cents a day. It seems too good to be true. I hope Boost doesn't disable this functionality any time soon.

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 10:30 pmUnless I change my mind again, I've decided to vote for Edwards in the primary. Posting this here is as much to remind me of my decision as anything else.
.
Forestfen apparently still has the notion that BDSMers are "devil-worshippers". I asked her, "If I don't believe in God, what makes you think I believe in the Devil?" She seemed surprised when I said of the people in my group, "They're all darn Christians too."
.
While making a purchase at the auto parts store, the way one of the employees behaved in relation to another person that walked into the store seemed remarkably ...shady... to me. Gave me the uncomfortable feeling that the employees were involved in something illegal.
.
I'm looking into whether to get a tankless water heater. It may end up depending on the installation costs relative to a "standard" tank heater. One of the Bosch gas tankless models uses "hydrogenerated ignition". The idea of using water to create a flame seems amazing to me:
"Hydro-generated ignition works much like the giant turbines in a hydroelectric dam using the flow of water to generate electricity. When a hot water tap is opened, cold water flows through the 1600's hydro generator. The flowing water spins a tiny turbine, which, in turn, instantly produces electricity. This electricity creates the spark required to light the burners and the water is then heated as it passes through a copper heat exchanger."
.
Time for bed. Past time.

Monday, July 23rd, 2007 09:17 pmForestfen disappoints me sometimes by forwarding me emails full of fallacies and/or unsupported statements, as if she believes and agrees with them. I would have thought she would be smarter than that.
Then again, she is Christian too. Why should I be surprised. But in terms of targeting certain ethnic or cultural groups and blaming them for various ills... I thought she was smarter than to read prejudiced rants masquerading as truths, and to forward them on as if she agrees with them.
I was thinking the other day, living life is hard. That's why so many people are strange and/or unpleasant, and/or live in unpleasant ways, from my point of view. Their strangeness is their adaptation to this difficult life. No stranger to them, than my adaptation is to me. I felt a sudden compassion for the whole of humanity while thinking that.

Saturday, March 31st, 2007 09:27 amForestfen just brought up the issue again of me not liking having breasts, and how I *should* like having my breasts be noticeable, because breasts are pretty and breasts are pleasurable, and men this and women that... and during this I ended up exclaiming, "I am not a woman, and I am not a man; I am an androgyne!" hehehehe...
She had me repeat the word because she didn't recognize it, and then she repeated it a couple of times to herself, as if intrigued. Before continuing on about how people's bodies are nice, and how they should like them, etc., to which I just respond, "Uh-huh... uh-huh... uh-huh...".
.
Ever since I turned on boot-logging a few days ago, by adding "/bootlog /sos" in my boot.ini file, I haven't had any problems with my startup. Oh well. Guess I'll just keep the bootlogging turned on then, since it seems to prevent the problem.
